Asset Configuration Through Images

CS426 Senior Project in Computer Science

University of Nevada, Reno - CSE Department

Team #30

Asset Configuration Through Images is a software application which uses Optical Character Recognition to allow Engineers to quickly gather machinery operating ranges while in the field. The application will parse an image of a machine’s data panel into a format which can be easily imported into a seperate software suite. The application consists of a mobile and desktop component which are able to access a shared cloud based database to view and edit previously parsed machine data. The use of Optical Character Recognition will greatly decrease the necessary time to input machine data into a piece of software, since the current method involves retrieving and entering the values by hand. By creating a more efficient process, this application aims to increase the amount of machines an engineer can process within a given period. The application utilizes Google’s Cloud Vision API for Optical Character Recognition. The mobile application uses the React Native framework to allow for simultaneous Android and iOS development.
